Why Lash Retention is a Standard..not a BONUS

Why Lash Retention Is the Standard...Not a Bonus

And why so many lash artists are still behind the curve.

Let’s talk about something that everyone with lash extensions cares about (but not enough artists actually focus on): retention.

If your lash sets look amazing on day one but start falling out after just a week, that’s not normal and it shouldn’t be acceptable. As a lash artist, educator, and product creator, I’ve spent years obsessing over what actually makes lashes last. Because pretty lashes that don’t last? That’s not a luxury service. That’s a waste of your time and money.

Here’s the truth: the lash industry is growing fast, but too many artists are still focused on how full their sets look in photos and not how well they last in real life. It’s easy to hide poor retention with filters, ring lights, or fill appointments every 10 days. But clients deserve more than that.

Lash retention isn’t luck. It’s a skill.
Retention starts at the very beginning of your appointment! It begins withĀ  the consultation, to the prep, to understanding what style actually works for your lashes. Not what’s trending, not what someone saw on TikTok but what actually fits your lash line, your lifestyle, and your goals.

I customize every set I do because no two faces, lashes, or schedules are the same. And because I specialize in retention, I don’t believe in the ā€œ2-week fillā€ model that so many clients have been trained to think is normal. With proper application, aftercare education, and product selection (yes, I’ve even created my own adhesive because I wasn’t happy with what was out there), you should be getting great wear for 3–4 weeks, sometimes longer.

If you’re a lash artist reading this:
It’s time to level up. Retention is what keeps your books full, your clients loyal, and your work respected. Stop chasing trends and start mastering the fundamentals. Your clients are paying for a luxury service so treat it like one.

If you’re a client reading this:
Don’t settle. If your lashes aren’t lasting, it’s not you. There are so many things we can troubleshoot together! Starting with lash health, to sleep habits, to the artist’s technique and products. But you shouldn’t have to guess. You deserve a lash artist who knows how to make your investment last.

At the end of the day, retention is more than just a buzzword for me. It is the foundation of everything I teach, everything I sell, and every lash set I create.
